Questions
Is the document scanner free?
Yes. There is no limit on how many documents or pages you can scan, no subscription and no account. A small banner ad in the app pays for it.
Does it crop and straighten pages automatically?
On both phones, yes. Android uses Google’s on-device ML Kit document scanner and iPhone and iPad use Apple’s VisionKit; either way each page’s edges are found, the perspective corrected and shadows removed before the PDF is built. The browser version at app.pdfpebble.com is an image picker instead: it stitches the pictures you choose into a PDF without edge detection.
Are my scans uploaded anywhere?
No. Capture and PDF creation both happen on your device, and the finished file is saved locally or handed straight to your share sheet. Nothing is sent to a server.
Does it do OCR — can I search the text in a scan?
Not yet. PDF Pebble produces image-based PDFs, so the text in a scan isn’t searchable or selectable. Recognising text on a photographed receipt so its total can become an invoice line item is the version of this being looked at next.
Can I scan straight into an invoice?
Not as one action, but the two live in the same app: scan the receipts or the signed docket, then attach or send them alongside the invoice you build with the free invoice generator.
